Downtown Sandusky getting new businesses

(SANDUSKY) – Two new businesses have either located, or are scheduled to, in downtown Sandusky, filling buildings that have been vacant for some time.

The Sandusky Rescue Mission Thrift Shop is holding ribbon cutting ceremonies Thursday in front of their building on S. Elk Street, across the street from Sanilac Broadcasting.

At Monday night’s council meeting, City Manager Dave Faber told council another empty building had been purchased and donated to a local church.

Faber said the former Beehive building, also on the west side of S. Elk Street, has been donated to the Countryside Free Methodist Church.

Plans for the building include an outreach center for youth and a community coffee shop, although no specific plans, or an opening date, were announced.
