Two killed in three-car crash on icy roads

UPDATE TO EARLIER STORY FROM THURSDAY MORNING —

(BURTCHVILLE TOWNSHIP) – Two people are dead and two others injured following a crash on an icy road in Burtchville Township this morning.

Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of the crash on M-25 near Jeddo road shortly after 6:30 a.m.

According to investigators, a GMC pickup was being driven northbound by a 30-year old woman from Burtchville Township when she lost control on an icy bridge, crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into a vehicle driven by a 40-year old Lexington man.

A third vehicle, driven by an 80-year old man from Fort Gratiot Township, crashed into the other two vehicles.

The Burtchville Township woman and her passenger, a 38-year old man from Burtchville Township died as the result of injuries suffered in the crash.

The Lexington man and Fort Gratiot Township man were transported by Tri-Hospital EMS to McLaren Port Huron Hospital with undisclosed injuries.

Burtchville Township Fire and Rescue and Fort Gratiot Township Fire and Rescue also assisted at the scene of the crash, which remains under investigation.

M-25 was shut down for about two and a half hours this morning following the crash
