Fatal crash claims two lives

TWO DEAD IN EMMETT TOWNSHIP CRASH

(Emmett Township) A 52-year old Emmett man and a 50-year old woman from Lynn Township are dead following a two car crash in Emmett Township yesterday evening.

Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene of a crash on Bryce Road at Breen Road at about 6:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Preliminary investigation into the crash showed that Dawn Meyer, driving a 2001 Dodge Intrepid, was northbound on Breen and appeared to have run the stop sign at Bryce Road. 

John Barron, driving westbound on Bryce in a 1998 Chevrolet pickup, struck the car on the passenger side.

Mr. Barron was pronounced dead at the scene. Ms. Meyer and her 16 year old daughter, who was a passenger in the car, were transported to Lake Huron Medical Center.

Ms. Meyer was pronounced dead at the hospital. The daughter was transported to Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

Emmett Township Fire and Rescue and Tri-Hospital EMS assisted at the scene of the crash, which has remains under investigation.

(Emmett Township) – Two St. Clair County residents are dead following a fatal traffic crash in Emmett Township Tuesday evening.

According to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department, Dispatch received reports of a head-on collision just before 7 p.m. Tuesday on Bryce Road near Breen Road.

When deputies arrived, they found a Chevrolet pick-up driven by a 52-year-old Emmett man, had collided head-on with a Dodge sedan driven by a 50-year-old Lynn Township woman.

The driver of the pick-up was pronounced dead at the scene while the woman was transported to Lake Huron Medical Center where she was pronounced dead, according to the sheriff department.

A 16-year-old female occupant of the woman’s car was transported to a local trauma center for treatment and was reported to be in critical condition, police said.

Michigan State Police, Emmett Township Fire Department and Tri-Hospital EMS assisted deputies at the scene
