Sanilac County Deputies respond to crash; high-speed chase

(ARGYLE TOWNSHIP) – Two men were injured in a two-vehicle accident that happened shortly after noon Friday in Sanilac County’s Argyle Township.

According to Sheriff Deputies, a 49-year old Lansing man was heading eastbound on Deckerville road while hauling a seed spreader with his truck, when he failed to stop at the stop sign at Ubly Road.

The Lansing man struck a southbound semi truck driven by a 57-year old man from West Olive. The Lansing man was flown by Life Net helicopter to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw for treatment of injuries.

The West Olive man was transported by EMS to McKenzie Hospital for treatment.

The Sanilac County Sheriff’s office was assisted at the scene by Argyle Fire, Sanilac EMS, Marlette EMS, the Sanilac County Road Commission, and Life Net.

 

HIGH-SPEED CHASE

(Wheatland Township) – Also on Friday, the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Deputies attempted to perform a traffic stop on a subject suspected of Operating While Intoxicated late Friday afternoon.

According to deputies, the suspect failed to stop at Deckerville and Berkshire Road in Wheatland Township, leading law enforcement on a high speed, twelve mile pursuit ending on Snover and Ubly Roads after Spike Strips were successfully deployed without injury.

Authorities say a 50-year-old Mississippi man was taken into custody and is currently lodged at the Sanilac County Jail awaiting arraignment on multiple charges.
