Melvin Hog Run no More; Moving to Brown City

(SANILAC COUNTY) – Downtown Melvin will no longer be filled with hundreds of motorcycles the second Saturday of August.

Representatives from the popular motorcycle fundraiser, previously known as the Melvin Hog Town Run, informed Brown City council members on proposed changes to next year’s event.

Officials are hoping to make Brown City home to the Hog Town Run, calling the event Hog Town Run Brown City. The benefit ride would start and finish in the Brown City Park with bikes entering on to Main Street from McMorran Street, then go East on Main, turning north on to Maple Valley Road.

Organizers said they would work details out with Carmen Funeral home, located where the bikes would be turning to use the park.

Council gave their approval to allow the Melvin Hog Town Run to change its name to Hog Town Run Brown City in 2020 and for them to use the Brown City Community Park, exiting from McMorran Street on to Main Street.

The event has been a major fundraiser for the Marlette Regional Hospsital’s hospice program for several years, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars.
