Croswell-Lexington School Bomb Threat Suspect Identified

SCHOOL BOMB THREAT/SUSPECT IDENTIFIED

A 14 year old female student of Croswell-Lexington High School has been identified as the one who left a bomb threat message.

On Thursday, September 19, 2019 at approximately 8:00 AM a bomb threat was found at Croswell-Lexington High School. It was reported to the High School office shortly after the first period of classes started.

School administrators contacted the Croswell Police Department advising them of the threat. Law Enforcement personnel from Croswell Police, Lexington Police, and Sanilac County Sheriff responded to the school.

The school and emergency first responders activated the bomb threat protocol and started an investigation of the threat. Croswell Fire/Rescue and the Croswell EMS were placed on standby.  Students and staff were removed from the school building with law enforcement officers providing security. Security was also provided at the Croswell-Lexington Middle School.

An explosive detection K-9 was provided by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.  After the school was searched, an all clear was given and students were returned to classes.

Croswell Police Resource Officer Wurmlinger located and interviewed the student responsible for making the threat.

A 14-year old female student of the school has admitted her involvement.  Charges will be sent to the Sanilac County Prosecutor.
