Cros-Lex Schools evacuated due to bomb threat

This story is breaking and we will have further developments as they become available. The following is a letter released to parents from Superintendent Dan Gilbertson:

Special Announcement

9/19/2019

Good Morning Cros-Lex Families:

This morning after first period started at the high school a report was made to the high school administration of an unspecifed “bomb threat.” We immediately contacted law enforcement to assist us with this report.

Our students are all supervised in a safe location off-site in our athletic stadium with additional law enforcement protecting our students and the surrounding area. Law enforcement with trained K-9 are currently conducting a thorough sweep of the school over the next hour. If anyone has any information regarding this threat please use the annonymous Ok 2 Say Call 8-555-OK2SAY Text: 652729 (OK2SAY) Email: OK2SAY@mi.gov

Separately, there is a partial power outage at both the Middle and High School this morning. Croswell Power is working at this time to remedy and restore power to both buildings. As a result of the power outage, District phones are now functioning at this time.

We anticipate either returning to the building after the sweep is completed and power if fully restored over the next hour, or we will arrange to have an early release from school.

We will be updating you with more information as it becomes available.

Daniel Gilbertson

Superintendent
