Watertown Township barn struck by lightning

(WATERTOWN TOWNSHIP) – A three-alarm fire caused by a lightning strike damaged a Sanilac County barn late Friday afternoon.

The Sandusky Community fire department was called to the scene of the fire on Hale Road in Watertown Township around 7:30 p.m., after receiving a report of the barn being hit by lightning during storms that rolled through the county.

Sandusky was assisted by Elk Township and Marlette fire departments. No injuries were reported and fire officials said damage was minor. Firemen remained on scene for around two hours.

Sandusky firemen also responded to numerous reports of downed trees and power lines throughout the city following the storms.
