Several motorcycles crash; one fatal injury

(CLYDE TOWNSHIP) – A crash involving several motorcycles in St. Clair County’s Clyde Township claimed the life of one man and injured several others Saturday afternoon.

The Clyde Township Fire Department and St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office responded to a fatal motorcycle crash around 6 p.m. Saturday on Rabidue Road north of Rynn Road in the township, according to a press release.

Sheriff deputies say a 56-year old Southgate man was leading a group of bikers from pavement to gravel and the transition caused a chain reaction crash. The Southgate man was hit by several motorcycles, after losing control of his own bike.

Four other riders sustained injuries, including his 59-year old female passenger who was listed in critical condition.

Three other men, a 43-year-old from Westland, a 31-year-old from Allen Park and a 43-year-old from Gwinn were taken to Port Huron area hospitals for treatment.

The fatal crash remains under investigation.
