Missing Port Austin man found dead

Officers with the Huron County Sheriff Department have found the body of a missing elderly man. Sheriff Kelly Hanson says officers conducted a welfare check on 75-year old Albert Wright after an area church member expressed concern for his well being. It had been reported that the man was in extremely poor health and was very weak, and hadn’t eaten for several days before the church member had checked on him. Officers responded to the man’s home on Bluff Road in Port Austin Township and were initially unable to locate the man in the home or on the property. However, a follow-up news release from Sheriff Hanson this (Friday) afternoon indicated that the man’s body had been found among debris in the home. Hanson adds that the medical examiner is conducting an investigation, but foul play is not suspected at this time.
