Tri-County law enforcement seeks public’s help

Police are investigating multiple home invasions

Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson released the following information Thursday:

Tuesday morning (July 30th), members of our office, the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office, Bad Axe City Police and the Michigan State Police met at our office to

discuss recent home invasions. This meeting came in response to three home invasions happening on Wednesday the 24th in the Owendale area, and one other in the Hurds Corner Road area of Tuscola County.

They have the appearance of similarities to approximately six others throughout Sanilac, Tuscola and Huron that have occurred during daytime hours over the past 20 months. We ask that residents report suspicious vehicles or persons to their perspective county dispatches, and encourage getting photographs, videos, or detailed descriptions, as well as license plate numbers if possible.

It is believed in some cases that the perpetrator or perpetrators made up some type of excuse to tell the homeowner when they stop, in the event that someone is home.

These incidents have occurred for the most part in rural areas. Regardless of the recent outbreak, residents need to be in the habit of always keeping their doors locked when not home and to never leaving keys in vehicles when unattended.
