(SANDUSKY) – The Sandusky city council gave their approval of contracts for two of their employees, agreeing to a five-year contract for City Manager Dave Faber and a four-year pact for Police Chief Brett Lester.

Both contratcts are effective July 1st. Faber, who has been with the city for eight years, will have a base salary of $83,700 plus benefits while Lester’s pay was set at a base salary of $63,100 plus benefits.

The Chief has been employed with the police department for 21 years including the past eight as the department’s top cop.

In other council news, the city rec program has been a big hit this year. City Manager Faber said he had to cap the program at 200 children last week, due to staffing limitations and other factors.

Faber told council the program averaged 138 children a year ago and has steadily increased over the years to an all-time high this year.

Faber reported Walmart had donated $1,000 to the city’s rec program and another $1,000 to the police department for future training.
