Police investigate a motorcycle crash

(WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP) – Sanilac County Sheriff Deputies investigated a motorcycle personal injury accident Saturday afternoon in Washington Township.

According to deputies, a 68-year-old Clinton Township man was going southbound on Ruth Road near Frenchline Road on a 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle shortly after 3 p.m. when he drove off the roadway, onto the gravel shoulder and lost control.

The motorcycle went into the west ditch and overturned on its right side, throwing the rider off the vehicle into the ditch.

The driver was treated by Sanilac EMS and later transported to McKenzie Hospital for further treatment. Deputies say the man was wearing a helmet and alcohol does not appear to be a factor.

The accident remains under investigation. Deputies were assisted on scene by the Applegate Fire Department.
