Possible road rage leads to fatal crash

(Fort Gratiot Township) The driver of a vehicle believed to be involved in a road rage incident crashed into a building last night, later dying from injuries sustained in the crash.

Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office received the call just after 9:00 Wednesday night of a vehicle that had crashed into Mama Vicki’s restaurant, located at 4425 24th Avenue.

The driver, a 45 year old Fort Gratiot Township man was southbound on 24th Avenue with another vehicle. He lost control and crashed into the building.

When deputies arrived, the vehicle had caught fire. The man was freed from the vehicle, transported by Tri-Hospital EMS to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office Accident Investigation Unit and detectives are investigating the cause of the crash.

Fort Gratiot Township Fire and Rescue and Michigan State Police also assisted at the scene of the crash.

The damage caused by the vehicle at Mama Vicki’s has caused that business to be closed today.
