Emmett man killed in St. Clair County crash

Police investigate fatal crash

(EMMETT TOWNSHIP) – A 28-year-old Emmett man was killed and two others were injured in an early morning crash Wednesday in Emmett Township, according to the St. Clair County Sheriff Department.

Deputies were called to the intersection of Dunnigan and Bryce roads shortly after 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they found a 2009 Cadillac CTS fully engulfed in flames.

The 28-year-old Emmett man was found ejected from the vehicle and declared deceased at the scene.

Two passengers, a 28-year old Emmett man and a 27-year old Capac man, were able to escape the vehicle and were transported to Lake Huron Medical Center for treatment.

Deputies determined the vehicle had been eastbound on Dunnigan Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control, striking a guardrail at the corner of Bryce Road.

The car continued through the ditch and struck several trees, according to deputies.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be factors in the crash, according to investigators. The crash remains under investigation
