Huron County woman arrested in death of baby

Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson says a 28-year-old Port Hope woman was arrested Wednesday on a two-count felony warrant related to the death of her seven-week-old child in October of last year. Kristen Phillips was arrested on involuntary manslaughter and 2nd degree child abuse charges. The child had been sleeping with the mother at the time of incident and police believe that alcohol and cocaine use by the mother were factors in the death. Phillips was booked into the Huron County jail then released on a $5,000 bond. Phillips could be arraigned on Thursday.
