The Sanilac County ISD board, and all seven school districts in the county, have learned schools have received State permission to have an earlier start date for the school year. The request, to begin school prior to the Labor Day weekend, had been made last year on behalf of the schools and now county school boards will decided what the actual start date would be. The news has come with mixed feelings between districts and parents who are split between the earlier start date or leaving as it was, with a few additional days of summer vacation. Final school decisions are expected by this spring.
