Semi truck hits overpass on I-94 near Port Huron

Interstate 69 at Range Road, near the interchange with I-94 was closed for several hours Tuesday afternoon after a semi truck collided with an overpass. According to the St. Clair County sheriff department, the truck crashed into the overpass on westbound I-69 about 3:30 p.m., resulting in the freeway being shut down and traffic to be backed up. Traffic on the congested highways, backed up for miles, was re-opened around 8 p.m. Deputies said an Imlay City man was on westbound I-69 when a piece of his dump-style truck hooked the overpass. The crash left the truck’s trailer in the middle of westbound lanes under Range Road and the semi-tractor in the woods off the freeway. The truck driver was transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. The incident remains under investigation.
