Four-alarm fire ruins machine shed

(WHEATLAND TOWNSHIP) – A four-alarm fire in Sanilac County’s Wheatland Township destroyed a machinery shed early Wednesday morning. Deckerville fire department was called to the Gibbs farm on the corner of Deckerville and North Sandusky Road around 7:30 a.m.

A machinery shed was reported to be fully engulfed in flames, fanned by strong winds. Deckerville Fire Chief Tracy Hoff said the 40×60 shed was a total loss and some contents, including UTVs were lost in the blaze.

About 50 Firefighters from Deckerville, Sandusky, Moore and Argyle Townships responded to the fire, according to Hoff.

Deckerville was called back to the scene for a rekindle of the fire around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Cause of the fire is under investigation.
