Wind energy project may mean money for Cros-Lex

Tradewind Energy officials have been in touch with Cros-Lex school district, letting them know about the company’s interest in a solar wind energy project in St. Clair County’s Grant Township. If the project were to come to fruition, it could mean more tax dollars for Cros-Lex. The proposed projectis for an 80 megawatt solar farm that could provide power to up to 12,000 homes, according to company representatives. The project is planned to be built on the western side of Babcock Road, between Jeddo and Myron roads. A meeting of the Grant Township Planning Commission is scheduled for January 29 to discuss the issue and the company would still have to be granted a special land use permit. If approved, the project would be about twice the size of the DTE solar project visible from I-69 near Lapeer.
