Wednesday’s Scores

Laker 51, Marlette 47 – The Marlette Red Raiders’ boys basketball team opened their season at Laker Wednesday evening and were dealt a tough 51-47 setback. Marlette held a slim 17-16 halftime lead, but a 27-16 Laker advantage in the fourth quarter sparked the home team to the GTC crossover win.

The Red Raiders shot 31% from from the floor and connected on just 8 of 28 three-point attempts. Marlette out-rebounded their opponents 29-28.

Senior guard Sean Quade led the Red Raider scoring with 14 points while Nathan Reehl had eight and Dillen Cook chipped in with seven. Brayden George score four points and led Marlette with nine rebounds.

Almont 67, Brown City 34 – Brown City dropped their opener to Almont Wednesday night, falling 67-34. The Green Devils trailed 31-22 at the half and 43-30 after three quarters of play.

Andrew Geiger turned in a double-double for the Green Devils scoring 16 points and grabbing 10 boards while Austin Cover chipped in with five points.

Austin Watts had 15 for Almont and Cameron Asaro tossed in 10. Brown City will take on Peck Friday night.

Unionville-Sebewaing 63, Sandusky 37 – Three Patriots scored in double figures to lead USA to a 63-37 win over Sandusky Tuesday night. Redskins trailed 22-8 after one quarter and were never able to recover, trailing 37-22 at the intermission.

Landon Zimmer had 15 points for USA while Tyler Heckroth and Micah Cramer each had 14.

Sandusky was led by Ben Kreger’s 15 points, Matt Carlson had eight and Tyler Nelson tossed in six.

Imlay City 70 Bad Axe 66 – The Bad Axe Hatchets jumped out to a 23-17 first quarter lead but couldn’t fight off a strong Imlay City squad, falling 70-66.

The two teams played to a 52-52 tie after three quarters before the Spartans finished on a 17-13 run in the fourth quarter to earn the win.

Hunter Medrano led Imlay City with 19 points and Lonnie Wolford had 16. Bad Axe was led by Cody Talaski’s 22 points and Jack Clancy added 19.
