Firemen from Sanilac and Lapeer County are battling a house fire at this hour in Marlette. According to radio traffic from Central Dispatch, Marlette fire department was called to a home on VanDyke, near Church Street inside the city limits, with heavy smoke billowing from the home.
Additional firemen from Burlington Township, Lamotte Township and Brown City have been called to the scene.
Fire officials have also called for assistance from the American Red Cross to aid an elderly couple that were able to escape the fire.
