Slow Progress for Caro Center

Its been one year since state officials decided to construct a new 200-bed, psychiatric hospital in Caro,in Indianfields Township. The project, estimated to cost around $115 million dollars, has no confirmed ground-breaking date as of yet and plans are still on ther drawing table, according to state officials. The new 200,000 square foot facility is being built on the same property where the current building, now over 100 years old, sits. It’s expected once construction starts, completion of the new facility will be in the spring of 2021. Around 350 people are employed at the Caro Center, and about 400 people indirectly make a living from the center. It is estimated the overall economic benefit of the Caro Center locally is $54 million.
