Huron Commissioners Extend Moratorium

The Huron County Board of Commissioners voted 6 to 1 to approve a one year extension to the moratorium on commercial wind energy projects on county zoned property while Master Plans and an ordinance are drafted. Commissioner Steve Vaughan, who cast the lone no vote, said if the moratorium is extended without time limits or a schedule of goals to be reached, the Planning Commission likely wouldn’t be doing anything the next year. He said they already had one year and according to Vaugh, they haven’t even looked at the issue as of yet.
