Three Sandusky high school students have received awards in the 49th annual America and Me essay contest, sponsored by Farm Bureau Insurance. Martin Tovar was a first place winner while Cara Blashill was second and Kirstyn Hawkins third. Tovar’s named will be placed on a plaque for permanent display in the school and his entry will advance to state competition where the top 10 essays will be selected. The top 10 winners will receive awards, iincluding a $1,000 cash prize.
