Lapeer officials have decided to use a merit system for the six available licenses for potential medical marijuana businesses in the city. Officials deliberated several hours over the past several days before reaching concensus on the new system. Applications will be accepted starting next month and it’s expected the corridor for any new marijuana businesses, according to new ordinances, would be along Imlay City Road, east of M-24.
