Deckerville area home damaged by fire

A two-alarm fire caused extensive damage to a home on Ruth Road south of Deckerville early Saturday morning. According to Deckerville fire officials, firemen from Deckerville and Carsonville spent three hours battling the fire that may have been caused by a wood-burning stove.

The two-story home sustained heavy smoke, fire and water damage and is being investigated to determine whether or not it was a total loss. The American Red Cross was was called to assist the family.

No injuries were reported from the fire that remains under investigation.
