Three Village of Ubly officials have resigned their positions on council, effective this week, as a result of an apparent police investigation. The issue surrounds a sidewalk in town that was allegedly improperly put in without the full council voting to expend the funds. Authorities said Ubly Police Chief Dave Rothe recused himself and asked the Michigan State Police to investigate. A complaint had been filed that a sidewalk was installed near the bank, at a cost of around $4,000, without full council approval.
