(SANILAC COUNTY) – Three Sanilac County fire departments have responded to a two-story structure fire with flames and smoke showing around 11 a.m. Tuesday morning. Elk Township fire department was dispatched to the scene on Farr Road with assists from Speaker Township and Croswell. No information about whether the building was occupied, or if there were any injuries.

(SANILAC COUNTY) – Minden City officials continue to weigh their options regarding the issue of a medicinal marijuana grow facility being in their village and a Monday evening meeting shed more light on the topoic, from both sides. Former resident John Kulish discussed his proposed operation and what it would do for the village.

He want to build a 100 by 200 foot building for a Class C Marijuana Grow Operation. A Class C license would allow him to grow 1,500 plants. Kulish said he would only grow, not transport or sell product. No decisions were reached by village officials as they continue to research the proposal.

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) -No injuries were reported in an accident involving St. Clair County school bus and two vehicles that closed a road near St. Clair Tuesday morning. Authorities said 16 students and the bus driver were not injured in the crash in East China Township shortly after 7 a.m.

Police said the driver of a vehicle had not cleared frost from the windshield and pulled into an intersection, striking an oncoming car, then slid into the bus on Yankee Road. The road was closed for about an hour while the scene was cleared.

(LAPEER COUNTY) – In an incident similar to the fatal shooting in Sanilac County late last year, two masked men, armed with long guns entered a Lapeer County home December 30th and allegedly stole marijuana from a Wilson Road home.

Sheriff department officials, who are still trying to sort out information on the heist, said four occupants in the home were ordered to the floor where they were tied up. The suspects are believed to be from the Flint area and are being sought.

One victim was injured in the robbery and was treated at McLaren Lapeer Regional for minor head injuries.
