Power lines snap near fairgrounds

A downed power line caused anxious moments Thursday afternoon

(SANDUSKY) – There were some anxious moments at the Sanilac County fairgrounds late Thursday afternoon when a number of people were trapped inside their campers on fairgrounds property after a power line fell near a cyclone fence on Dawson Street.

According to Sandusky Police Chief Bret Lester, the power line and another line for cable and telephones snapped and were on the ground around 5 p.m.

Multiple state, county and local police agencies and Sandusky fire department responded to the call and reported no injuries.

Chief Lester said other campers decided to stay inside their trailer until the situation was dealt with.
