Three communities have combined to form the new Sanilac East Fire Authority
(PORT SANILAC) – Following action by the Sanilac Township board Thursday, the Sanilac East Fire Authority is set to become an official fire authority. All three entities, the Townships of Forester and Sanilac along with the Village of Port Sanilac have agreed to unite as one for fire protection.
With an improved budget, the fire department will be able to update old equipment, including the department’s air breathing bottles.
After Port Sanilac Township made their decision, paperwork was hand delivered to the State of Michigan with the expectation the new SEFA will be effective some time in October.
