Marlette schools reports bomb threat

The Marlette Junior/Senior high school was cleared of all students and staff shortly after classes were dismissed for the day Monday, due to a reported bomb threat. According to Marlette police, the school’s office was notified of a non-specific bomb threat, written in a boy’s restroom in the upper level of the building.

The administrative office was notified and police responded to the scene. Within minutes of the reported threat, all students were sent home and the building was cleared, police said.

Chief Brian McGinnis said the Lapeer City Police department K-9 was called to sweep the building. T

he building was deemed safe an hour later. McGinnis said police are following up on leads based on student information and may have more information later Tuesday.
