Brown City and Deckerville seek new Superintendents

Following the resignation of Douglas Muxlow as their Superintendent, the Brown City schools have begun their search for a replacement. The school board agreed to look within the district’s staff members first, to see if there is anyone interested.

Interim Superintendent Jerry Steigerwald said there are staff members with the required certifications in the district, but he said it is unknown if they will apply. Deadline for the internal posting is Friday at 3 p.m. and a meeting for possible interviews is set for June 1st at 7 p.m.

Meanwhile, the Deckerville Board of Education will be getting their first look at a list of potential candidates for their next Superintendent tomorrow night at a special meeting.

The Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. at the high school to review applicants and continue working on finding their district’s next top leader.

Charles Andrews of Michigan Legislative Institute has been leading the board in the search process and will present the list of candidates at the meeting, according to school officials. The board will consider candidates in an effort to find a replacement for retiring Superintendent Tricia Pawlowski.
