Area spring sports results

In high school sports action last week, on the soccer pitch, North Branch scored a 6-0 win over Yale to move to 2-0 on the young season. The Lady Broncos had knocked off Clio earlier in the week. In the win over Yale, Victoria Kirkwood scored four goals and Kendall Wilson netted two goals.

Also in soccer action, Harbor Beach scored a 3-0 shutout win over Imlay City and a 4-2 non-conference win over Oakland Christian. In the win over Christian, Justine Roggenbuck scored a pair of goals while the others were scored by Haylie Essenmacher and Alexis Booms.

In softball action, the North Branch Broncos scored a pair of wins over Croswell-Lexington, winning 12-9 and 13-6. The visting Lady Pioneers led 6-4 before North Branch used an eight-run fourth inning to take control. North Branch trailed 3-1 in the nightcap before piling up 12 runs late in the game to complete the sweep. Olivia Sweeney had four hits and four RBI in game two to lead the Lady Broncos.

The Sandusky Redskins baseball team dropped a pair of non-conference games to Yale last week, falling 8-2 in the opener and coming out on he short end of a 1-0 score in the nightcap. The Bulldogs scored three times in the first inning and never looked back. In game two, Yale managed to punch across the winning run in their half of the sixth inning, winning on a walk-off base hit.

The North Branch baseball team won the opening game of a twinbill against Croswell-Lexington last week 5-1 before the teams played to a 4-4 tie in the nightcap. Hayden Wolf had a hit and knocked in two runs for the Broncos in game one to support winning pitcher Carson Kempa who struck out eight batters.
Carsonville-Port Sanilac Schools will be hosting a “Back From Break” 3 on 3 basketball tournament on April 15, 2017 in the high school gym. The tournament will begin at 9AM and is limited to the first 60 teams. The cost to participate is $75.00 per 3 or 4-player team and all proceeds will benefit the boys and girls Basketball programs at Carsonville-Port Sanilac.
