Cros-Lex board decides to axe year-long school

Despite pleas from parents whose students take part in the program, the Croswell-Lexington school board voted Tuesday night to discontinue year-round school in the district beginning next year. The move will reportedly save the district nearly $194,000 dollars and put over 300 students back in the traditional program.

Interim Superintendent Gary Richards said it is his task to balance the budget and do what’s best for the entire district in reasoning his decision for the recommendation.

After the meeting, several parents took to social media to voice their unhappiness, saying perhaps they voted for the wrong people to be on the school board.
