Chase by police leads to arrest

(Imlay City) – Law enforcement officers responded to Cedar St in Imlay City Tuesday evening regarding a stalking complaint. Police said a 27-year old Leonard man had followed a 28-year old Imlay City woman from work. The man, wanted on a warrant in Almont on an unrelated matter, quickly fled the scene in a pick-up truck.

He set off a wild 30-mile, one hour high speed chase by multiple departments from Lapeer and Sanilac counties. Attempts were made by police to disable his vehicle, with two marked cruisers struck by the suspect’s vehicle.

The chase ended when the suspect lost control and became stuck in a field around 8:30 p.m. After failing to comply with officers, police deployed a taser and took the suspect into custody.

The suspect was lodged in the Lapeer County Jail awaiting criminal charges.
