Lady Redskins win showdown of Thumb’s two best girls teams

GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
It’s been eight years in the making, but the #1 state ranked Sandusky Lady Redskins beat #2 Reese and did so in a big way, racing out to a huge first quarter lead and posted a 38-23 win over the Rockets. The winners led 24-7 at halftime, after racing out to a 16-3 first quarter lead. Jess Kursinsky and Gabby Gough combined for 12 of their team’s 16 points in the opening quarter.

Kursinsky had a solid game for the lady ‘Skins scoring 14 points and grabbing 15 rebounds. Gough, a sophomore, returned from an injury to score 10 points and Haley Nelson added eight.

Birch Run 56, Frankenmuth 49 – 105 game winning streak for Muth snapped
Croswell-Lexington had 17 points from Claire Knapp and 10 from Sydney Soper in posting a 47-25 win over Almont to remain undefeated in BWAC play.

Millington had nine points and six assists and eight points from Haley Trickey and Jenna Meacham scored eight points to lead t he Lady Cardinals to a 55-31 win over Caro.

BOYS’ BASKETBALL RESULTS
The Deckerville Eagles pulled away in the second half to score a 55-36 NCTL win over Carsonville-Port Sanilac Tuesday
night. Deckerville built a 40-28 lead after three quarters of play. Brandon Pattullo paced the winners with 14 points,
Wyatt Janowiak had 13 and Zac Asher added 12. Tony Nugent topped the C-PS scoring with 14 points.

The Peck Pirates built a 12 point lead early in their game with Kingston, but couldn’t hold off a second half Cardinal
rally as Kingston pulled off a 46-42 win over their arch rivals
