Sandusky students best in two counties

Sandusky students rank among the best in a two-county area, following test scores released by the Mackinaw Center high school ratings. The study measures academic achievement while considering socioeconomic factors. Sandusky high school Principal Steve Carlson said everyone is proud of the students and the results. Sandusky ranks 1st in the county and 85th in the state for high schools.

The study measures academic achievement while considering socioeconomic factors. Carlson pointed out that the fact that the school’s rating outperforms all of the St. Clair County schools and, when comparing against schools in our “locale subgroup”, Sandusky is 3rd in the state.

Carlson commented, “We at SHS appreciate the validation of the commitment of our students, the tireless efforts of our teachers, and the wonderful support our school gets from parents and the community. The years that this study analyze coincide with strong efforts made by the teaching staff to analyze achievement data to both identify gaps–areas where we were lagging–as well as look for areas where a little extra attention could make a big difference. The teachers are constantly tweaking curriculum and lessons with this data in mind and our students take it from there. We are proud of these results but committed to ongoing and continual improvement.”
