New members seated on Deckerville council

Deckerville fire department member Joe Kubik now has another job to fill as he takes over his position on the village council. Joining him at the council’s first meeting of the year earlier this week was Village Clerk Monica Kunze. Kunze won her spot in Deckerville government after drawing the piece of paper that said “elected”, winning the election on a tie-breaking vote held at the Courthouse last year.

County Drain Commissioner Greg Alexander, who is also an active member of the Lions Club, presented a flag that had once flown over a government building in Michigan’s state capitol, to council members.

The flag is now on display at the Village Hall and is encase in a glass frame, along with a certificate that was given to commemorate the occasion by Senator Phil Pavlov.
