Area girls hoops teams have busy schedules

With the holiday break behind us, area high school boys and girls teams hit the hardwood tonight as the season hits high gear. In boys action, one of the top games in the area will be in Marlette when the Millington Cardinals pay a visit to the Terry Reid gymnasium. The Red Raiders come in to the game undefeated and primed to make a run at the GTC-East title. The game can be heard here on WTGV 97.7 beginning with the pre-game show at 7:05 with John Presenll and Cliff Amey.

In other boys games, Imlay City visits Cros-Lex as the BWAC race heats up, Algonac travels to Capac, Richmond takes on Armada and in non-conference action, Mayville is at Genesee.

On the girls court, in a battle of two unbeaten teams, Sandusky collides wth Richmond on the Blue Dwevils home court, Cass City is at Caro, Bay City All-Saints visits Peck, Bad Axe is at Imlay City, Deckerville is at Harbor Beach, Elkton-Pigeon-Bayport is at North Huron and Utica Ford is at Port Huron High.

In action on the ice, the Sandusky alumni hockey game was played last weekend at the Colleen J Howe Ice Arena where 24 players suited up for the annual game. In the end, the Young Blood outlasted the Old-n-Gray squad 4 to 3.

Leading the way for Young Blood was Mason Handley and Jonah Duran, both with two goals while Andy Newland, DJ Convery and Taylor Hutchinson all had an assist. The Old-n-Gray had goals from Aaron Lanctot, Ian Foster and Jon Hrlic and assist from Phillip Lowe.

Action in the Sanilac Hockey Association resumes this week as well, with games in all age divisions taking place.
