The first tournament was the annual Quiz Bowl Bee which saw 15 finalists from seven area schools qualify for the championship match. After a series of rounds, it was Brown City’s Ray Shavers taking home the Championship Trophy with Joseph Swope from North Branch receiving the Runner-up Trophy. Kyle Beatty from North Branch finished in 3rd with Sandusky’s Lydia Ulfig taking fourth and Sebastian Jerome from Bad Axe taking 5th place.
The Fall 2016 League Championship Tournament saw the top 8 varsity teams from the final standings compete for trophies. In round one it was #1 Sandusky A over #8 North Branch A (115-65); #2 Bad Axe A over #7 Sandusky (130-70); #3 Brown City A over CPS (125-65) and #4 Marlette A being eliminated by #5 Ubly (165-20) in the one-game elimination tournament.
Round Two saw Bad Axe A knocking out Sandusky A (185-90) and Brown City taking a close win over Ubly (135-125) The championship round saw Brown City A claim victory over Bad Axe A by just 10 points (95-85).
Brown City a finished the season strong with a 4-0 1st place at the final tournament at Brown City on December 1st, and then had 3 straight wins at the League Championship to finish the season in 1st place. The winter season starts after the holidays on January 5th with a tournament at Sandusky Jr/Sr High school, with all seven schools from the fall competing. Peck has also been added to the winter roster.
