Emergency services crews helped make the holidays a little brighter for children
Santa’s helpers were out in full force Tuesday night when the Sanilac County Sheriff Department held its sixth annual Shop with a Hero event at the Sandusky Walmart. Emergency services personnel from Applegate, Brown City, Moore Township, Delaware Township and Sandusky fire departments joined police officers from Brown City, Croswell, Deckerville, Marlette, Sandusky, the Michigan State Police, Sanilac County Sheriff Department, and the U.S. Air Force to take 23 children shopping.
Volunteers wrapping gifts were from the Sanilac County Sheriff Department and students from Deckerville, Carsonville-Port Sanilac, Croswell-Lexington, Sandusky, the Sanilac County Career Center as well as family members. The Sandusky Pizza Hut donated pizza and bread sticks for everyone and Walmart provided goodie bags for all the kids.
