Obama-Christmas message

WASHINGTON (AP) – President Barack Obama says Christmas is a time to focus on the message that Jesus Christ brought into the world.

Obama says it’s a message of forgiving, loving and caring for one another, “even our enemies.”

At Thursday’s lighting of the National Christmas Tree, the president said, “It’s a message that grounds not just my family’s Christian faith, but that of Jewish Americans, Muslim Americans and non-believers.”

The annual ceremony is mostly secular, but a college chaplain offered a prayer and gospel singer Yolanda Adams performed “O Holy Night.”
