Brown City advances to the State Finals in Class C

(Battle Creek) – The Brown City Green Devils volleyball team has advanced to the schools’ first ever Class C state championship game, following another dramatic five-game win. Thursday afternoon against Adrian Madison, the GTC-East champs lost Game 1 21-25 only to rally to win the next two by scores of 25-20 and 25-22. However, Madison took charge in Game 4, leading at one point 16-5 before fighting off a furious Brown City rally to take a 25-21 win and set the stage for the fifth and deciding game.

Brown City led early in Game 5 before their opponents took a 12-9 lead. Brown City dug deep, relying on their experience of a year ago in a semi-final loss and scored the final six points of the match to send them to Saturday’s title game at noon.  They will play the winner of the Bronson vs Calumet match that was played later Thursday.

Senior Becki Klause helped lead BC to the win with 36 kills, one block and 26 digs. Breigha Donnelly added seven kills and 23 digs, Kendal Muxlow chipped in with 19 kills and 23 digs and Jasmin Bender finished with 25 digs.
