Suspects arrested in armed robbery/marijuana bust

25 pounds of marijuana were confiscated

(Sanilac County ) – The Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office working jointly with the Huron County Sheriff’s Office arrested two Huron County men on multiple charges including armed robbery and drug charges in a case that began with a robbery at a home on Maurer Road in Sanilac County’s Minden Township on Friday evening.

Sheriff Deputies were sent to the home after the homeowner, who was not home at the time of the robbery, reported hours later that three men wearing ski masks entered the home and one of the suspects held three people in the home at gunpoint while an undisclosed amount of money and medical marijuana were taken from the home.

The investigation led Sanilac County Deputies to Huron County were they joined Investigators from the Huron County Sheriff’s Office. That investigation eventually led to a traffic stop Bad Axe and three search warrants being authorized. Two of the warrants were served simultaneously, one at a home on S. Silver St. and the other at a home on Willis St.

A third search warrant was later served at Tanton Estates Trailer Court, in Harbor Beach. Police then arrested a nineteen year old man from Owendale for felony possession with intent to deliver marijuana and a twenty year old man from Bad Axe for felony armed robbery. Police also seized approximately twenty five pounds of medical grade marijuana, a vehicle and other evidence.

The Owendale man remains lodged in Huron County jail on a $50,000 bond and the Bad Axe man was booked into the Sanilac County Jail, where he remains lodged on a $50,000 bond.  Names of the suspects are being withheld pending charges.
