BC girls win volleyball regional crown

(Flint) – The Brown City Lady Green Devils won their second consecutive Class C volleyball regional championship Thursday night. The Brown City ladies defeated New Lothrop 3 games to 0 at Flint Hamaday to notch their 43rd win of the season. They advance to Tuesday’s quarterfinals at Saginaw Nouvel where they will face Shelby.

Coach Jenna Welke said, “The girls gave a great effort. We were down big in game two and they could have given up. They kept fighting and rallied for the win. I am proud of them and their effort.”

Brown City, now 43-9-5 overall, won three straight wins, including a big rally in game two, to earn their place in the quarterfinals. Becki Krause had 12 kills, Breigha Donnelly added nine kills, Kendal Muxlow had eight kills and Alexia Mason finished with 32 assists to spark the Brown City girls.

North Branch defeated Goodrich 3 to 0 to claim another Class B regional, and will play St. Clair Shores South Lake Tuesday in the Class B quarterfinals at Clawson.
