(PORT HURON)–Officers from the Port Huron Police Department have made an arrest in connection with a fatal hit and run case from over a year ago. 79-year old Eleanor Denise Smith was found unconscious and bleeding in the roadway in the 1000 block of Oak Street in September 2015. First responders provided first aid, but Smith died several hours after the accident at Lake Huron Medical Center. The hit and run case remained open for over a year. On Monday, officers received a tip on a potential suspect. Officers located the suspect, identified as 33-year old Matthew Jarvis, and arrested him on charges including failure to stop at the scene of an accident resulting in death, which is a five year felony. A probably cause hearing is set for October 25th. Bond for Jarvis is set at $50,000.
