Sandusky area man injured in fireworks accident

(SANDUSKY) — A 25-year-old Sandusky man was seriously injured late Saturday afternoon around 5 p.m. as a result of a fireworks accident. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies say Ethan Jared was igniting fireworks when one exploded in his hand while he was holding it in the 100 block of South Gates Road in Watertown Township. Jared was transported to McKenzie Health System in Sandusky for treatment then later transported by helicopter to another hospital for additional treatment. His condition was not reported. Police say the size and type of the firework has not been determined. Sanilac County Sheriff’s deputies were assisted at the scene by Sandusky Police and Sanilac EMS. An investigation into the incident is continuing.
