Brown City council minutes

(BROWN CITY) — The Brown City council met Monday night and received a report from Police Chief Ron Smith regarding any incidents that occurred during last weekend’s Thumb Soybean Festival. Chief Smith said that other than a few disorderly conduct arrests and a missing golf cart that reappeared in the morning, things went smoothly. He added that something needs to be done to address all of the traffic in town during the festival, and will present several suggestions during the next council meeting.
In other business, Brown City Clerk Juanita Smith informed the council that DTE Energy will begin installing advanced metering in the city. The process is expected to begin in the next few weeks, and residents not wanting an advanced meter should contact DTE about paying a monthly fee to keep their existing meter.
Council members were also notified that Brown City cleanup days is scheduled for Tuesday, June 21st and Wednesday, June 22nd. All unused appliances and scrap metal will be picked up on the 21st and non-metal eligible items on the 22nd. Any residents wishing to dispose of appliances containing freon will need to purchase a permit from City Hall for $30.00.
