CMU Medical Students Partner with Providers in Marlette, North Branch, and Port Sanilac

(AREA) — A select group of medical students have started their 3rd year of study practicing in Sanilac and Lapeer counties as a result of a partnership with the Central Michigan University College of Medicine, McKenzie Health System, and Marlette Regional Hospital. Beginning in July, the four students will work in partnership with clinical physicians and staff as part of a six-month program called the Comprehensive Community Clerkship, which aims to expand on their previous 2-years of classroom studies. Marlette Regional Hospital and McKenzie Health System are two of many CCC sites in the state working in partnership with the CMU College of Medicine. At Marlette Regional Hospital, Colin McCulloch of Hinsdale, Illinois and Nicholas Scott of Niles, Michigan will work in partnership with Dr. William Starbird in North Branch and Dr. Jabir Akhtar in Marlette. At McKenzie Health System, John Holtrop of Saginaw and Devin Simon of Port Huron will work in partnership with Dr. Mark English in Port Sanilac. The students will work in partnership with the hospital’s in Marlette and Sandusky through December.
